My Experience With Friso Brings My Family Out

I was amongst the lukcy ones, the selected parent blogger who got to go for Nuffnang and Friso Family Out event. So I brought my children and my niece to the event. It was a good experience for the children as they got to participate in all sorts of games.

Xiao Qing & Victoria participated in colouring contest.
Xiao Qing, mommy told you you need to colour it neatly.. do not leave any white space!

My 2 year old son can't quite follow instruction. However, I found him enjoying himself with the slide so much.

Jack, don't you know that you have to get to the top of the slide from another entrance!

8-month old Zheng Feng got to play too.. He was so curious when I put him into the pool full of ball! Zheng Feng, your eyes are as round as the balls!

The children enjoying the magic show! If you are standing in front, you will see that all of them open their month with the O shape!

This was what happened on the way back home!

Don't disturb me, mommy.. is better to let me sleep then I make lots of noice, ok!

Thanks Nuffnang and Friso for organizing this great event!

Friso Brings My Family Out

It is very exciting to find out that Nuffnang and Frisco is organizing Nuffnang Friso Family Day Out‘ , the first Nuffnang parenting bloggers gathering courtesy of Friso! If you would like to find out more, click here! What we need to do is to write a blog post on why Family Day is important for children and be the first few to submit the entry. .

Talking about Family Day, I would like to relate it to definition of Family in the a very different perspective as follows:

Family = (F)ather (A)nd (M)other (I) (L)ove (Y)ou

F A M I L Y

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,

"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.

He said, "Please excuse me too;

I wasn't watching for you."

We were very polite, this stranger and I.

We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,

How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,

My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.

"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.

I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake in bed,

God's still small voice came to me and said,

"While dealing with a stranger,

common courtesy you use,

but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,

You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.

He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,

you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."

By this time, I felt very small,

And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;

"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.

"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"

He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.

I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.

I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."

I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;

I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."

He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.

I love you anyway."

I said, "Son, I love you too,

and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

FAMILY

Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company

that we are working for could easily replace us in

a matter of days.

But the family we left behind will feel the loss

for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more

into work than into our own family,

an unwise investment indeed,

don't you think?

So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?

FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Does this sound familiar to you too? We always treat other strangers better than our own family members. We always ignore our family members as we are forever busy with our stuff. We always yell with our loved ones. Are you even aware that the relationship has started to melt? Would you like our children to treat us that way when we grow older? I'm sure the answer in 'No". There is a need for us to put in constant effort to create and maintain the family bond of parents and children. We need to teach our children all the good values, not just by sending them to 'good' schools that only help them to excel academically. We need to treat them how we would like to be treated... Organizing Family Day is one way to achieve this objective. Since it requires effort, it would remind us, the parents the meaning of family and the need to create bond!

Nuffnang and Frisco, thank you for organizing this event and I am looking forward to attend your event and earn a trip to Disney Hong Kong!

Safe Less EPF, Pay More Tax! No Savings for Us!

Photobucket

The Edge has put up a coverage about how the economic slowdown could have impacted the middle class. As you may be aware, despite recent efforts by the government to help the people cope witht the slowdown, the social safety net has left out those in the middle class. The worry is that Malaysia may end up with a growing number of white collar families struggling to make ends meet.

The government's plan to put more spending money in he hands of people by reducing our Employee Provident Fund (EPF) constributions will backfire in some cases.

Instead of easing our burden, the plan will see some taxpayers paying more taxes when we opt to contribute 8% to the EPF as opposed to 11%. So the middle income earners could be affected.

Taxpayers wih a gross income of less han RM6,250 per month would will be taxed more if we opted to contribute the original 11%. Those who earn more han RM6250 per month will escape this narrowly.

Article from http://malaysiapersonalfinance.blogspot.com/2008/11/safe-less-epf-pay-more-tax-you-are-now.html has given the following illustration:

Let' assume your monthly basic salary is RM4,000.

If your monthly EPF contribution is 11% (RM440), then your taxable income = RM3560, and income tax payable = RM77.

If your monthly EPF contribution is 8% (RM320), then your taxable income = RM3, 680, and income tax payable = RM109.

Conclusion? If you choose to contribute 8%, you will end up paying more income tax to the government which will make the government richer.

So the governmen's good iintentions will not have the desired effect on some people.

Do you have any experience with Astro's call centre?

Can't help but I must express my disatisfaction with Astro.

The auto debit of most of my bills was disturbed ever since my bag was snatched recently. So i need to setup my auto debit with my new credit cards. Astro, was one of the service provider I called up to pay off my outstanding bills and setup auto debit.

Today, I discovered that we are being disconneted from Astro. So I called up the call centre and was informed that they only setup my auto debit but did not use my payment details to offset outstanding balance. The agent agreed to reconnect the service. However, I will need to pay RM20 reconnection fees when I probe her further. After my 'appeal' to the agent, she agreed to waive the fees. Shouldn't the first agent 'seng mok' to offset my bills and the second agent clever enough to waive the reconnection fees since it is not my 'fault'?

I have been hearing bad comments about Astro's services. Their call centre lines are forever busy except for if you are enquiring bill related matters :) I once wanted to upgrade my package. However, I was not entitled because I did not have a particular package in one of my accounts. The question is I am paying for 2 accounts of which the other account has the package that should have fulfil the conditions. So they have failed to recognize customer at customer level but at account level.

If not because my kids love to watch the cartoons and my mom in law loves to watch 333 - the hokkien channel, I would have discontinued with Astro for long. I definitely like to save the fees since we need to be cautious with spending nowadays!

Expand your social circle in Facebook

Have been busy setting up my facebook last weekend. Though I have registered facebook for a while but have not been utilizing the features fully.

Facebook is like a place for me to find 'missing' persons. I found and bump into long lost friends there. We started communicated to each other and it is interesting to find out what they are doing now.

Some folks out there have created alumni for my secondary school and univertisy. So I joined those groups and found many of my ex schoolmates there. I also found a group on Malaysian Fencing. I joined them with the aim to keep in touch with the fencers. While I can't envisage that I can fence like a fighter now, I hope I can enrol my children one day into this wonderful sport.

For those of you out there, register yourself with Facebook and you will be surprised what you will find there. We working mothers, must have our social circle too!

My visit to church

I have decided to send my 3 little angels to a Church (FGA in Kuchai Lama) as I was told the church has the biggest children church in Malaysia. Well, I am not a Christian myself, but I do think it is ok to expose children to religion related activities. Church is also a place to socialize, to learn and to share.

Talking about Children Church in FGA, I am quite amazed how organized they are in running the children church. There are classes customized according to age group. I send my 7 month baby to craddle roll (baby class), and 2 year old son to the 2-year old class and my 4-year old daughter to the 4-year old class. I also respect the volunteers there who are so committed and passionate in teaching the children.

While I still can't 'accept' Christ, I don't mind my children to be guided by good values and principles.

Hi Ladies, There Is Vaccine To Prevent Cervical Cancer

I went to my gynae at Gleneagles hospital and was recommended for HPV, the vaccine for preventing cervical cancer. When I talked to my colleagues in the office, most did not know anything about it and some think that it is only applicable to young women only. It sounds like it's a disease very few women know about and should. I made a call to the doctor's clinic and was told by the nurse that the vaccines for HPV was initially for young girls and women aged 9 to 26. Now, with the new technology, the vaccines can be extended to women up to the age of 50 something. I will try to contact the doctor again to get more information.

High Flying Job Vs Work Life Balance

In line with the objective of the blog, I have started approaching some working parents to gather insights on topics surrounding busy working parent with growing kid(s). I am glad that Siew Meng has accepted this interview. I am shocked when i came to know Siew Meng quit her high flying job few months ago. She opted out of the workplace even though she has the opportunity to be successful. Let's find out the reasons behind it here!

Tell us about yourself – Your previous work experience and current job assignment (if any) and your family
I am married with 1 daughter aged 2 years old. I quit after working for 13 years in the my company. My last job was to manage one of module of an ERP system for 9 countries in Asia.

I got a half year contract job with my ex-employer but the contract has just expired. I am going to go back to the same company for a permanent job (local role).

What is the reason for making the shift – quitting your high flying job and taking a lower profile job?
My standard execuses are my frequently travelling, although my boss is supportive but he is demanding, we have endless projects, long working hours etc (as a lot of dealings with the IS team in UK, India which work in different time zone).

Apart from this, my husband is working outstation & he only comes back every weekend. We are guilty as that we are unable to spend much time with our daughter..

All these small reasons has turned into a bom one day - my 19 months old daughter fell unconscious & was admitted to ICU after she had swallowed my mum's sleeping pill, I was travelling at that time & i only found this bad news upon my arrival. I felt horribly guilty & sorry for her - so i decided i need to take a break & spend more time with her!!

Is your hubby supportive of your career shift?
Yes he is supportive initially... he started to complaint as he has to pay me monthly allowances :) so i reckon it is better to get a job - either freelance or any other job with less stress..... In fact i did try selling insurance & financial planning but i figured i am bad in doing sales...

Is freelancing able to substantiate your income from the previous full time job?
[siew meng] i am not on freelance but on a half year contract job... in fact my contract job remuneration is slightly higher than my previous package...

Are you happy with the decision to go freelance? Are you able to meet the objectives for making the career shift (as per 2 above) such as achieving work-life balance? Would you be pursuing other nature of work such as starting your own business etc? Why

I am happy to get out from my previous job so at least i could manage to take a breather in life + manage to spend more time with my daughter....i am glad that i've learned to "let go" which not many people could achieve :).... i was just too tired & can't wait to let it go

... but i hope the new job (local role) will be less stressful than my regional role so i could achieve work-life balance

What would you advise for someone who likes to do freelancing as well?

This is subjective, my case is a little special, I've chosen to quite as i don't have to service loan. Most importantly i am not ambitious!! During that time - i felt family is my first choice, i really want to spend time with my daughter.

I think freelancing is not a bad choice as we need to keep ourselves busy & also continue to earn money!!

Given a choice, would you rather be a career woman, a stay-at-home mom or a business woman? Are you working towards it now?
My choice is to strike a work-life balance regardless the nature of the job. I am working towards this as I have chosen not to advance my career but step backward.

If I have more than one kid - my choice could be a stay at mother because i think they will need more attention from the parents. :). It is not fair to bring them here but unable to spend time with them.

I also ask myself what is the meaning of life.... why can't we live like westerner - they seem to enjoy life better than Asian... :) $$ is not everything in our life!!

Are you able to spend more time with your kid now? What activities do you do with your kid?

Yes, definitely!! I am not the "gang ho" type of mother! I play with her most of the times - all sort of silly games.

Reasoning vs Cane: what method do you use to discipline your child? Why?

95% vs 5%... i won't use cane but ask her to stand at a corner. Why? They need to be told what is right or wrong & they need to learn to be a asonable person as us.

Any particular children books or education program you use for your children? How do you make learning fun for your kids?

Again - no. I am lucky that my sister pass me down some story books... so i will just read to her. I will try to make the story fun & do some activity book (sticker books). I am not a good mother - i won't force her & i often lazy to flash cards to her.

Every night - i will try to do a recap of her behaviour of the day - again tell her what she had done good or wrong & explain to her why!!

Do you use any parenting approach to bring up your kid? Do you apply any asian’s value into your parenting approach?

Yes - guo... not too sure what is parenting approach means.... I just make sure i don't show her bad example & always observe her behaviour & alert & remind her for either good or bad things she had done!

Interview with Siew Meng has reaffirmed something for me... A career advancement could mean a trade off for work life balance. So something we need to consider carefully before making a move. After all, what is the purpose of life if it is not for our loved ones... :)

Cost Savings Tips - Restructure your handphone plan

With the recent petrol price hike, my household spending has increased quite a bit. Coupled with the financial turmoil that has started to hit us here in Asia, I thought I need to be more caucious in spending. There is need to save for the rainy days in case situation get worsen :)

One good way to cut down spending is to review your family phone plan. Those packages you may have signed up many years ago may not be the most cost effective plans now. Telco has been adjusting their pricing to stay competitive. By the way, do you know that you can now change to different operator and still keep the same number? This is what they call 'Mobile Number Portability - MNP'. So you can imagine how hard Telco needs to retain or convert customers and that makes the market to be even more competitive.

I have recently converted my 'Corporate - Individual' account to Family Plus plan under my husband's name. I used to pay RM75 a month min and now RM30. There is at least 60% cost savings here. My husband also upgraded his phone plan to a more cost effective plan as he is a heavy user of the phone. Cost per call become much cheaper.

If you are 012 maxis user, check out the family plan here. Hope this tip is good for you. Do share if you have other tips in cost savings.

How much time do you spend on the internet a day?

How much time do you spend on the internet daily? There were some debates on this with my colleagues recently as in my opinion, we the Malaysian working parents do spend time on the internet (I mean after work yeah!) regularly. If this is not happening to you yet, I believe it will be in the next 1 to 2 years. My husband and I are quite internet savvy. I used to spend about half to one hour a day on the internet. Now that I am hooked to blogging, I think it has increased to another 1/2 to 1 hour. My hubby? Definitely more than me, probably about 2 hours a day.

Yeah! How can I still find time surfing internet since I have my 3 little angels? As I can be quite addicted to the internet, I have come up with a rule for myself that is I must spend at least 1 hour with them after work. So I usually gather all the 3 of them into my bedroom and I will spend time talking and reading to them. I will get them to bed when time is up and there is where I will start surfing internet.

Of course, I have reduced time spent in watching TV. I am ok for that, since my mother in law usually catches her hokkien drama during the prime time from 8pm - 10pm+. In fact the lesser TV for children, the better for them :)

Cheers

Advertisement of Mead Johnson’s Enfakid A+ Milk Formula

Mead Johnson has been very aggressive in their marketing and advertisement. The brand is perceived a premium brand here. I am surprise to find out from Noemi's recent post on :Mead
Johnson’s Enfakid A+ Milk Formula Does Not Nourish Your Kids’ Brain
that their recent advertisement has made a mistake by putting the wrong answer for a mathematic equation (as follows) in Philippines.

9+5 · 2 - (7 · 2)=14

Did you get it right youself? If not, do go and refresh your memory of the basic pre-algebra. LOL...

The advertiser has then subsequently put up another ad showing the right answers. Not sure if it is a a turnaround move on the mistake made.

You see, breastmilk is still best for babies. We mothers have been very 'kiasu' for buying the most premium brands in the market. But really, whether our kids are smarter? Only God will know!

Thoughts from Sudden Death of My Cousin's Wife

I got a call from my hubby this afternoon informing me that my cousin's girlfriend passed away while she was asleep yesterday nite. She is in her 20's and was busy preparing for her wedding ceremony at her hometown. This is indeep a shocking news for me! It reminds me the need to take care of my health and observe any discomfort on my body, hopefully this can prevent unfortunate incident like this.

One of the issues that the parents of my cousin to decide is whether to recognize his girlfriend as 'wife'. In the Chinese tradition, if the the chinese wedding ceremony is not done yet, the couple would not be recognised as husband and wife despite having register their relationship with the registrar of marriage. According to them, this would avoid the need to setup 'Seng Chi Pai' for the wife at home and allowing my cousin to remarry with ease. Well, in my opinion, the girl should be recognized as his wife in due respect to her. Nothing can deny the relationship even though the wedding ceremony is not done yet. Well, I am sure the old folks would not agree with me :)

Medals and My Pass Glory

My parents recently moved house and dig out all my medals that I kept under the bed for years. They passed them to me and now I am into dilemma whether I should keep them or throw them away:)

Huh!! throw away? the medals signify my sweats and glory during my younger days in sports. I used to be a sports woman in school and had always been awarded recognition as 'sports woman of the year' of my school. I had also participated in Fencing and represented country in some inter country tournaments. I recalled my trip to Fukuoka in Japan for Universiade Game (Inter University Game) which was full of fun and exposure - It was like a mini Olympics. I considered it as an achievement for me even though I was immediately disqualified after the very first round of the game, lol..

The medals brought back a lot of memories for me... It was the small talent I had in sports that had shaped me today. Being from a working class family, I did not had the luxury to go for nursery, kindergarten or other child development activities. I can't even afford to participate in Girl Guide or St. John type of associations as I did not have enough money to buy uniforms. Well, this was compensated by ways of participating in sports where I learned to be dedicated in achieving my goals, I learned to be a leader in running 'sports house' and teams in school, I learn to raise funds to support my sports activities... Representing schools and countries had also provided me good exposure, some opportunities for travelling :) Like it or not, my small talent has made me a go-getter today.

Back to this, I can't imagine I was a sports person before.. My body is out of shape after giving birth to 3 wonderful kids. The medals have reminded me that I need to keep fit too, haha..

I have taken pictures of the medals. I think it is a good idea to keep them electronically here. They will be constant reminder for me to keep fit. How can I throw them away?

Anti Aging and Keeping Fit!

Found a few old pictures taken when I was in my late 20s. Wow, thought I looked so much better that time, skinnier, fit and young. I recalled some pictures taken recently at a beauty salon as part of the skin analysis, I looked terribly tired. Fine lines and pigmentation have started surface out on my skins...According to them, I have serious problem with dehydration.

This got to do with my laziness in maintainig my facial care routine, plus my 2 cups of coffee a day. As part of the 'rejuvenate myself' efforts after giing birth to my 3 angels, I now set a new aim to improve skin conditions and of course, getting fit again.

Will be asking around for the best moisturizer for dehydrated skin. Do let me know if you have recommendations ya!

Watch out for a new 'ME' in a few months time. Cheers

How the financial turmoil started?

There is an article on How the Turmoil Started - Q&A with Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn that gives a very good view on current financial situation. Take a look here!

If you have difficulty understanding the current world financial situation, the following should help...

Once upon a time in a village in India , a man announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10.

The villagers seeing there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.
The man bought thousands at $10, but, as the supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their efforts. The man further announced that he would now buy at $20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.

Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer rate increased to $25 and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it!

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now act as buyer, on his behalf.

In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers: 'Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at $35 and when he returns from the city, you can sell them back to him for $50.'

The villagers squeezed together their savings and bought all the monkeys.

Then they never saw the man or his assistant again, only monkeys everywhere! Welcome to WALL STREET.

My experience with complementary invitation to a beauty saloon

I received an invitation from a bank to enjoy a complementary facial treatment from a famous beauty chain here recently. Since it was about time to go for my facial treatment, I responded to the invitation and went to one of the outlets.

Well, they use about 1 hour to do skin analysis and to explain to me their program. They tried to convince me to buy into another facial treatment. According to them, without cleaning up my face, the complementary program maynot work as hard as it is supposed to be. Gosh.. i felt that I am being 'Con' to the beauty centre as the complementary invitation should be free of charge. However, since I was already there, I decided to proceed with the treatment as suggested.

Throughout the session, the therapist told me that I was very tense and asked if there was lots of stress in my work. She then recommended me to go for a music therapy that will help to reduce stress. Huh! How can I be relaxed if they keep on trying to sell me things!

After the treatment session, they brought me to a consultation room. Again, they are trying to sell me a program that will cost me RM7k after 50% discount! Wow, wow... I told them I had to rush because my angels (kids) were all waiting for me at home (which is true) and I managed to 'escape' from the beauty centre! I felt so relief when I reached home and saw all my angels.

Well, spending more than 3 hours in a salon is considered a luxury activity for me in view of my tight schedule. Despite the so call complementary treatment, I am paying RM250 for a treatment I would consider basic. Now comes to think about it, my current saloon offers me the same program and charge me much cheaper than that. The difference in price could be due to product used and advertisement spent in building their brand. I must say the saloon is nicely done up with good facilities and the people there is nice and knowledgeble. However, I do not ever think I will go back to the centre again!

Lession learned: do not accept complementary treatment if you are not prepared to spend time and money!

Want to get started blogging today?

Here is the useful article from The Mom Salon on how to get started with blogging:

Mothers begin blogging for a variety of reasons. Some look to journal their pregnancies or the growth and development of their newborns. Others like to share with families and friends the daily goings-on of their children and family in general. Still others write about their lives as moms and their thoughts about everything from what they cooked for dinner the night before to important public policies affecting the lives of women, children, and families.

It's safe to say that blogging offers mothers a creative outlet to voice their opinions and commentary on a plethora of ideas and topics. As the ideal communication tool, blogs help mothers connect with like-minded and even not-so-like-minded people in a time when communication is easier than ever before and in a climate where everyone's opinion counts and can literally make a lasting difference in the vast blog community.

Want to get started blogging today? Here's how.
1. Choose a blog-hosting company where you would like to house your blog. There are several to choose from, each with their own benefits and advantages. We suggest Blogger, WordPress and Typepad , although there are a host of others from which to choose. Type in "blog hosts" in Google to find others that may interest you.

2. Take a look at other blogs and glean ideas about how to make your blog interesting and fun to read. There are several theories about what makes a successful blog. For certain, one of those things is regular updates (sometimes two and three times per day). If you're going to gain a following, your blog must have intelligent, focused writing and a unique style and feel. Avoid rambling posts about daily minutiae unless you are a gifted writer because as soon as readers can click on your blog they can also click away.

3. Place your blog in directories such as Technorati, Blogarama, Blogwise , and of course, The AsiaWorkingParent directory. Directories are a great way to get your blog indexed in search engines. They also serve as avenues for finding like-minded blogs.

4. Let other bloggers out there in the blogosphere know you're blogging. Most do this by commenting on blogs and linking out to blogs they enjoy reading. Introduce yourself to other bloggers. Email them even, especially when something they've written has affected you in some way.

Cheers

Why Do I Blog?

How did I start blogging?

After given birth to my third child, I decided I need to do something for myself, something that gives me some sense of achievement other than parenthood. Since I am in the field of marketing, I thought I should have hands-on experience how the internet has transformed the world, how the internet has become the channel for communications, how the internet has become an alternate channel for brand building. So without thinking too much, I started 2 blogs www.asiaworkingparent.com, www.handmade-jewelry-club.com. (I later on purchased my own domain names so that I can eliminate ‘blogspot’ from my web address that look so long-winded)

There are four reasons why I blog:

Blog for Fun
Blogging is really fun! I can blog about anything that comes into my mind. It serves as my e-diary and I can organize it with beautiful pictures. It is fun to share my updates with friends and relatives. You know, all mothers like to brag about their children. So I think I have this syndrome also…lol. Also, it is a way to catch up with friends and relatives as well since we have no time to meet up face to face.

Blog for Children
It's a gift I give to my children; I do not make scrapbooks, I am a miserable keeper of photo albums, and I barely keep the baby books updated. It's something I hope to pass on to my children so that they may have the unique opportunity to see into their childhood in a way that birthday party photos and school portraits could ever convey.

Blog for Challenge: Opportunity to Put Up My Marketing Hat
Yeah, this is probably the hardest of all. I need to start scratching my head from market positioning of blog to target audience, to content development, to marketing of the blog. I am still scratching my head today. It is quite an interesting game for me.

Blog For money?
I have been hearing that people blog for money. Can I earn money from blogging? I am not sure. To test it out, I signed up Adsense. Based on my few months of blogging, I can see that my Adsense account is moving… moving like a snail from few cents to a dollar, hahaha.. it can’t even cover the electricity bill that I use to run my computer, not to mention my time spent in creating and maintaining the blog. So if you are blogging for money, it may de-moralize you yeah! For me, it serves as a key performance indicator for me to see how well I do in promoting my blog.

Hope this will inspire you to blog as well.

Cheers

My little baby's spider hands

My 6-month old baby likes to crawl so much. He likes to move his fingers to 'crawl' too. See funny video here!

DIY Tiara for My Princess

My daughther, Xiao Qing always like to be a princess. So I have created a simple tiara for her.
I have posted the step by step guide here.
Materials
1. 1 headband
2. Pearls
3. Brown coloured wire

Step by step guide:
Step 1: Draw out your design in a piece a paper.
Step 2: Hand-wire each stem according to your design. Leave about 2 inches at the end of the stem.
Step 3: Connect the stem to the headband by wrapping the remaining wire.

Rather simple to do. You can mix and match using other beads and come out with different designs by using the same techniques. I am sure your daughter would like it too.
